Sex is important because it is an outlet for couples to express physical intimacy between themselves. But when you compare physical intimacy to other forms of intimacy couples can experience, it's the least because of the reasons I mentioned in the blog post.
Now, I'm not making a case that physical intimacy isn't important, because it is. But physical intimacy alone cannot keep a couple together because it depends on feelings of attraction which are very fickle because of its ever-changing nature.
Now infidelity is a big deal because it is a breach of the contract, trust and agreement of commitment to monogamy between a couple.
